After a seven-year hiatus since Tha Carter V, Lil Wayne has officially released Tha Carter VI on June 6, 2025, under Young Money and Republic Records. This marks his first solo studio album in five years, following 2020's Funeral, and serves as the sixth installment in the iconic Tha Carter series.
The album's rollout was uniquely teased in a Cetaphil commercial aired during Super Bowl LIX, where Wayne hinted at the release date by showcasing a studio door sign reading "Do Not Disturb 'Til June 6, 2025."
Tha Carter VI boasts a diverse array of collaborations, featuring artists such as Miley Cyrus, Machine Gun Kelly, Bono, Elephant Man, and Wayne's 15-year-old son, Kameron. Notably, opera legend Andrea Bocelli contributes to a deeply personal track addressing Wayne's early health struggles.
Production credits include industry heavyweights like Wyclef Jean, who reportedly recorded over 30 tracks with Wayne, as well as Wheezy and Kanye West. A sample from Billie Eilish is also featured, pending clearance.
To celebrate the album's release, Lil Wayne is set to headline Madison Square Garden for the first time in his career on June 6, offering fans a live experience of his new music alongside classic hits
Tha Carter VI delves into themes of legacy, personal growth, and resilience, reflecting Wayne's journey and evolution as an artist. Tracks like "These Are the Days" provide introspective narratives, complemented by Bono's haunting hook and a voice note from Kameron's childhood.
