Tensions within the iconic R&B group En Vogue have resurfaced as current and former members exchange public accusations while preparing for an upcoming reunion tour. The group, known for its success since the 1990s, is set to join Salt N Pepa and TLC for the It’s Iconic tour, but behind the scenes, unresolved conflicts and communication breakdowns have taken center stage.

The current lineup, consisting of Cindy Herron, Terry Ellis, and returning member Maxine Jones, recently performed together at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a moment that was expected to celebrate the group’s legacy. However, longtime member Rhona Bennett was notably absent from the performance, which reportedly came as a surprise to her and later led to her departure from the group.

Sources familiar with the situation described the relationship among members as more professional than personal, suggesting that the bond often resembled a working arrangement rather than a close friendship. Communication between members had reportedly been handled through legal representatives in recent years, indicating deeper divisions that had been building over time.

Bennett has publicly challenged claims made by current members about her exit, stating that her departure was not voluntary as suggested. She explained that contract negotiations between her legal team and the group had broken down, and that an offer previously extended to her had been withdrawn, leaving her with no choice but to step away.

Further escalating the situation, former original member Dawn Robinson entered the dispute, strongly defending Bennett and criticizing the current members’ leadership. Robinson accused certain members of controlling behavior and described a pattern of dismissing individuals from the group, adding that she personally related to the experience of being excluded.

Robinson also directed criticism toward Maxine Jones for rejoining the group despite past legal disputes involving the En Vogue name. She referenced previous conflicts in which Jones had been sued by fellow members, questioning the decision to return given the history of disagreements and public fallout.

The current members have responded by suggesting that they only became aware of Bennett’s departure through social media, presenting a different version of events that highlights miscommunication rather than intentional exclusion. These conflicting narratives have fueled ongoing speculation about what truly happened behind the scenes.

As the group moves forward with tour plans, the ongoing conflict underscores the challenges of maintaining unity within long running musical acts. While fans continue to celebrate En Vogue’s legacy, the likelihood of a full reconciliation among all members appears uncertain, leaving the group’s internal dynamics as complicated as ever.
