Ed Gale, the actor renowned for physically portraying the killer doll Chucky in the original "Child's Play" films, passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 61 in Los Angeles. His niece, Kayse Gale, confirmed his death in a heartfelt Facebook post, humorously noting, "It is with a heavy heart and a surprisingly light coffin (see what I did there?) that we announce the sudden passing of our uncle, Official: Ed Gale, Actor - retired. Ed Gale has taken his final bow and is now headlining in the afterlife."

Born on August 23, 1963, in Plainwell, Michigan, Gale moved to Los Angeles at the age of 20 with just $41 and a dream of becoming an actor. He was born with dwarfism and stood at 3 feet 4 inches tall, a characteristic that he embraced throughout his career. Gale's breakthrough role came in 1986 when he physically portrayed the title character in "Howard the Duck," with Chip Zien providing the voice. He gained further acclaim for his work as Chucky in "Child's Play" (1988), "Child's Play 2" (1990), and "Bride of Chucky" (1998), where he brought the menacing doll to life through his physical performance, complementing Brad Dourif's voice acting.

Over his career, Gale amassed over 130 credits in films, television shows, and commercials. His notable appearances include roles in "Spaceballs," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?," "Tiptoes," and "The Polar Express." On television, he featured in series such as "Land of the Lost," "Weird Science," "Norm," and "My Name Is Earl." Beyond acting, Gale was known for his vibrant personality, humor, and love for storytelling, often sharing his experiences at fan conventions.

In 2023, Gale faced serious allegations after being caught in a sting operation where he admitted to soliciting explicit content from minors, claiming contact with up to ten underage individuals. At the time of his death, he was under investigation by the LAPD and was on probation for solicitation of a minor. Despite these controversies, Gale's contributions to cult cinema and his unique presence in the entertainment industry remain significant.

Gale's legacy is marked by his determination to overcome obstacles and his ability to bring unique characters to life, leaving a lasting impact on fans and the film industry alike.
